Besigheidstudie
Die vak besigheidstudies sal aan `n leerder eerstehandse voorpunt-kennis en vaardighede bied wat `n leerder sal toerus om ʼn sinvolle bydrae in ʼn snel veranderende besigheidswêreld te maak.
Die dissipline en die vakgroep gaan aan `n leerder kundigheid, analitiese vermoëns en navorsingsvaardigheid bied, wat so persoon gesog in die arbeidsmark sal maak. Dit sal ook vir `n leerder toerus om onafhanklik daarin te kan werk.
The business studies subject will provide a learner with first-hand cutting-edge knowledge and skills that will equip a learner to make a meaningful contribution in a rapidly changing business world.
The discipline and the subject group will provide a learner with expertise, analytical abilities and research skills, which will make such a person sought after in the labour market. It will also equip a learner to be able to work independently in it.
Fisiese Wetenskappe
Die vak fisiese wetenskappe is ʼn opwindende vak waar leerders self die geleentheid kry om in die laboratorium te eksperimenteer. Dit bestaan uit twee afdelings nl. Fisika en Chemie. Daar word onderwerpe soos beweging, eienskappe van watergolwe, liggolwe en elektromagnetiese straling word bestudeer. Kennis word prakties opgedoen ook. Sodra die leerder dan nou ʼn beter begrip het van hoe atome bind om molekules te vorm, kan hulle in die laboratorium die chemiese veranderinge wat stowwe ondergaan wanneer dit met ander stowwe reageer, ondersoek. Belangrike vereistes om suksesvol in fisiese wetenskappe te wees is wiskunde.
The subject physical sciences is an exciting subject where learners themselves have the opportunity to experiment in the laboratory. It consists of two sections viz. Physics and Chemistry. Topics such as motion, properties of waves, light waves and electromagnetic radiation are studied. Knowledge is also gained practically. Once the learner now has a better understanding of how atoms bond to form molecules, they can investigate in the laboratory the chemical changes that substances undergo when they react with other substances. An important requirement to be successful in physical sciences is mathematics.
Geografie
Geografie word in graad 10 – 12 ʼn vak op sy eie. Dit is `n sterk praktiese komponent wat deur kaartwerk uitgemaak word. Omdat die vak universiteitstoelating bied, is dit belangrik om die vak te neem in kombinasie met die rigting waarin `n leerder wil studeer. Die vak lei tot ʼn hoër APS-telling. Geografie is ʼn geakkrediteerde vak vir internasionale studies.

Geography becomes a subject on its own in grades 10-12. This is a strong practical component that is made up of map work. Because the subject offers university admission, it is important to take the subject in combination with the direction in which a learner wants to study. The subject leads to a higher APS score. Dit is die studie en toepassing van produksie ekonomiese en bestuursbeginsels wat in die verbouing, transformasie en bemarking van voedsel en ander landbouprodukte gebruik word. Hierdie beginsels word gebruik om waarde tot landbouprodukte van hoë gehalte te voeg sodat hierdie produkte ekonomiese, estetiese, sosiale en kulturele waarde het.
Die vak is ontwikkel om leerders te voorsien van ‘n goeie prakties-georiënteerde basis wat beide die teoretiese en praktiese vaardighede op so ‘n wyse integreer dat dit ook leerders met spesiale onderwysbehoeftes (LSOB) inkorporeer.
It is the study and application of production economic and management principles used in the cultivation, transformation and marketing of food and other agricultural products. These principles are used to add value to high quality agricultural products so that these products have economic, aesthetic, social and cultural value.
The subject has been developed to provide learners with a good practically-oriented base that integrates both the theoretical and practical skills in such a way that it also incorporates learners with special educational needs (SEN).
Landboutegnologie
Die vak Landboutegnologie fokus op tegnologie wat in die landbou gebruik word. Die vak dek die kennis oor hoe prosesse, gereedskap, toerusting, strukture en vaardighede deur boere benut word, om landbougrond te bewerk en voedsel en produkte te produseer deur van verskeie produksieprosesse, en die handhawing en onderhouding van kwaliteit lewensstandaarde, en die uitbouing van ekonomiese en estetiese en goeie kulturele waardes gebruik te maak.
Landboutegnologie bied aan leerders die geleentheid om die tegnologiese prosesse toe te pas in die ontwerp en maak van praktiese projekte, herstelwerk, instandhouding van toerusting, ontwerp en bou van strukture in die landbousektor.
The subject Agricultural Technology focuses on technology used in agriculture. The subject covers the knowledge about how processes, tools, equipment, structures and skills are used by farmers, to cultivate agricultural land and produce food and products through various production processes, and the maintenance and upkeep of quality living standards, and the development of economic and using aesthetic and good cultural values.
Agricultural technology offers learners the opportunity to apply the technological processes in the design and making of practical projects, repair work, maintenance of equipment, design and construction of structures in the agricultural sector.
Lewenswetenskappe
Soos die naam aandui, is dit die studie van lewe in harmonie met die omgewing tot voordeel van alle organismes hetsy plante, diere en die mens. Lewenswetenskappe (Biologie) is saamgestel uit VIER hoofgroepe: Omgewing, Diversiteit, Molekulêre studies en basiese lewensstelsels.
As the name suggests, it is the study of living in harmony with the environment for the benefit of all organisms whether plants, animals and humans. Life Sciences (Biology) is composed of FOUR main groups: Environment, Diversity, Molecular studies and basic life systems.
Verbruikerstudie
Verbruikerstudies leer jou om – op ʼn lang termyn – ʼn ingeligte, verstandige verbruiker te wees deur jou kennis, vaardighede en waardes te ontwikkel sodat jy in staat sal wees om die volgende te doen:
Jou lewenskwaliteit en dié van jou gemeenskap te verbeter.
Wetenskap en tegnologie doeltreffend en krities te gebruik.
Inligting in te samel, te ontleed en krities te evalueer in besigheidspraktyke.
Verskillende bronne van produkinligting te benut om as verbruiker goeie besluite te neem deur van kritiese en kreatiewe denke gebruik te maak.

Verbruikerstudies behels geïntegreerde teoretiese en praktiese vaardighede wat geleenthede kan skep vir selfindiensneming en entrepreneursondernemings wat met voedsel, klerasie en meublement verband hou. Om kursusse in Hoër Onderwys in die areas van voedsel, voeding, klerasie, tekstiel, mode-ontwerp, behuising en binnenshuise versiering of ontwerp te neem, sal jou ook help om basiese kennis en vaardighede te verwerf.
Consumer Studies teaches you to be – in the long term – an informed, sensible consumer by developing your knowledge, skills and values so that you will be able to do the following:

Use different sources of product information to make good decisions as a consumer by using critical and creative thinking.

Consumer studies involve integrated theoretical and practical skills that can create opportunities for self-employment and entrepreneurial ventures related to food, clothing and furniture. Taking courses in Higher Education in the areas of food, nutrition, clothing, textiles, fashion design, housing and interior decoration or design will also help you acquire basic knowledge and skills.
Rekeningkunde
Hierdie vak bied werksekerheid in ʼn wêreld vol onsekerheid. Daar is `n internasionale tekort aan rekenmeesters. In Suid-Afrika is daar `n tekort aan rekenmeesters op alle vlakke, van ± 22 000. ALLE besighede het ʼn rekenmeester nodig. Rekeningkunde is ʼn vaardigheid met onskatbare waarde – al beplan jy nie loopbaan ʼn in rekeningkunde nie.

ALL businesses need an accountant. Accounting is an invaluable skill – even if you are not planning a career in accounting.

Rekenaars is deel van jou alledaagse lewe! Jy werk elke dag met ʼn rekenaar en dit is ʼn lewensvaardigheid wat jy moet aanleer. Dit is ʼn vereiste vir elke beroep. Dit is ook ʼn vereiste in die eerste jaar in elke kursus op universiteit. Daarmee saam is dit ook die enigste vak waarmee jy direk na skool die arbeidsmark kan betree, sonder enige ander opleiding. Hierdie vak bemagtig jou om groot hoeveelhede inligting te verwerk. Op so manier bly jy op hoogte van nuutste tegnologie.
Computers are part of your everyday life! You work with a computer every day and it is a life-skill that you have to learn. This is a requirement for every profession. It is also a requirement in the first year in every course at university. Along with this, it is also the only subject with which you can enter the labour market directly after school, without any other training. This subject empowers you to process large amounts of information. That way you stay up to date with the latest technology.

Wiskunde
Wiskunde verwys na die logiese en kritiese beredenering van probleme. Dit verwys spesifiek na die vermoë om ingewikkelde probleme deur middel van bepaalde formules en redenasie op te los. Dit behels die waarneming, voorstelling en ondersoek van bepaalde onderliggende patrone en verwantskappe in ʼn fisiese en sosiale konteks. Die leerder moet in staat wees om onderliggende verbande tussen wiskundige begrippe, formules en stellings te ondersoek. Die doel is om vas te stel of hierdie verbande wel wetenskaplik verantwoord kan word. Die werkswyse wat gevolg word, omvat die beskrywing van numeriese, meetkundige en grafiese verwantskappe. Die leerder moet dus gemaklik wees met numeriese berekeninge, meetkundige stellings en grafieke. Die leerder moet dit kan bereken, teken en interpreteer. Ons kan dus sê dat wiskunde gebaseer is op die waarneming van sekere patrone en die berekening daarvan. Dit kan weer lei tot die ontwikkeling van nuwe wiskundige idees en insigte.
Mathematics refers to the logical and critical reasoning of problems. It specifically refers to the ability to solve complex problems by means of specific formulas and reasoning.
This involves observing, representing and investigating specific underlying patterns and relationships in a physical and social context. The learner must be able to investigate underlying connections between mathematical concepts, formulas and statements. The aim is to establish whether these connections can indeed be scientifically accounted for.
The working method followed includes the description of numerical, geometric and graphical relationships. The learner must therefore be comfortable with numerical calculations, geometric statements and graphs. The learner must be able to calculate, draw and interpret it. So we can say that mathematics is based on observing certain patterns and calculating them. This in turn can lead to the development of new mathematical ideas and insights.
Wiskunde Geletterdheid
Wiskundige Geletterdheid is ʼn afsonderlike vak en hou glad nie met “gewone” wiskunde verband nie. Wiskundige Geletterdheid kan gesien word as die praktiese toepassing van wiskundige beginsels in die moderne wêreld. Dit poog om die leerder te help om die wêreld van syfers rondom hom te verstaan en te interpreteer. Hier kry die leerder geleentheid om wiskunde in alledaagse probleemsituasies toe te pas. Wiskundige Geletterdheid ontwikkel die leerder se vermoë om alledaagse probleme numeries te interpreteer en krities te analiseer. Die gevolg is verbeterde probleemoplossingsvaardighede.
Mathematical Literacy is a separate subject and is not related to “ordinary” mathematics at all. Mathematical Literacy can be seen as the practical application of mathematical principles in the modern world. It aims to help the learner to understand and interpret the world of numbers around him. Here the learner gets the opportunity to apply mathematics in everyday problem situations. Mathematical Literacy develops the learner’s ability to numerically interpret and critically analyse everyday problems. The result is improved problem-solving skills.
